Hair-Do Thursday - Volume
Hey ladies! One thing I adore in any hair would have to be volume. Volume can be really hard to achieve, especially if you have really thick hair like moi.
One thing that can really amp up the volume would be a side part. A center part is extremely difficult to get sexy volume.
Volumizing mousse would be a definite DO. Mousse helps give the hair structure, and helps it to not just "lie down and play dead".
If you blow-dry your hair, drying it upside-down can boost the volume. If you air-dry your hair (like me), you can pull the pieces you want so the roots face upward, and pin them there to dry.
One product I like to use on second day hair is bigsexyhair's Powder Play. Apply just a tad of this powder to your roots and back comb the inch closest to the roots. You can then smooth down the edges with a comb if they don't blend in with the rest of the hair.
Volume is gorgeous. And there's no way it COULDN'T look gorgeous on YOU.

Makeup Monday - From Day to Night (My Makeup)
Hey babes! ♥ Makeup trends fluctuate like a snow-melt river. So, I try to stick within my favorite looks. For day, I like to not wear to much makeup, especially in the summer! Clogged pores and zits are seriously no fun. So I wear Covergirl translucent powder and blush, and NYC bronzer to define my cheeks, Revlon brow fantasy eyebrow pencil, Maybelline shimmery eyeshadow in Cinnamon Spice, ULTA automatic eye liner in black/brown, a bit of Maybelline Rocket Volum' Express mascara, and a Wet n Wild MegaSlicks lipgloss in Rose Gold.
But when going out, or something fancy like a wedding, you have to be a bit more bold. In this picture, I went for a bit of a 50's feel. First, I applied Covergirl Clean Sensitive Skin foundation to my whole face. Next comes the Covergirl powder, blush and NYC bronzer, except the bronzer under the cheekbones is thicker, to make them more defined. Darker and more clearly shaped eyebrows (courtesy Revlon brow fantasy) create that classic vibe. I also used a Maybelline sparkly eye shadow in Champagne Spice on the inner corner of my eyes, Cinnamon Spice near the whole outer half, and Revlon diamond lust in Night Sky right in the crease. The eyeliner I used to make a cat-eye was Revlon ColorStay in black, which turned out super pretty! The mascara I used was Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express. An ULTA brand red lip stain plus some gloss tops everything off, pulling together my much more glam look! ♥
Hope you enjoyed this journey through the very mystical land of my makeup!

(p.s. Always wear the LEAST amount of makeup needed. There is no excuse for overusing and abusing makeup EXCEPT show choir. That's all!)

Trend Tuesday ♥ Leather
Hey biker babes! Ok not really, but leather is SERIOUSLY in. Even in the summer, we see leather shorts, shirts, you name it! And not just black and brown, ooohhh no. There's even PINK! I kid you not. I'm not a huge fan of leather on the bottom, but a leather jacket can't be beat. Unless it's really hot then you should definitely not wear a leather jacket. But anyway, leather jackets look cute with almost any shirt, and go with almost outfit if tailored correctly. This jacket pictured above appears to be flattering, and looks almost like it should be a blazer. However, if the peplum-esque bottom doesn't work with your figure... It's probably just not a grand idea. Leather is very tough-girl, which is also very in! Plus in so many colors and shapes, it could be easy to incorporate into nearly any outfit! However you choose to wear it (or not), have fun! As long as the shoe fits (or jacket or pants) wear it with confidence!

Makeup Monday ♥ Summer-eyes!
Hey sunbathing sirens! Bright, warm colors are what summer is all about! I love the look on this eye. The orange is actually pretty neutral, and though bright, not distracting. The bright pink in the crease is playful and very "look at me"! (As you can see, this look appears really pretty on brown eyes. However, I think the orange could really make blue eyes pop too!) The colors together aren't usually something you would see paired as eye makeup, but I believe this look is a refreshing way to mix things up a bit! No better way to spice up your summer than trying something new!

Smitten Saturday ♥ Impossible? Risky? Pointless?
Howdy vivacious vixens! When love comes a-knockin', it can be hard to put aside your doubts. In this day and age, it's hard to know where to put your trust. There are a lot of jerks out there. But there are also plenty of great guys, who don't love a woman just for her body, or other selfish reasons. You are independent. As women, we are taught to be independent in order to get our way in society. We don't want to succumb to "silly" things such a love. Right? We have all been hurt in the past. And we know the risks. After being hurt once we calculate and manipulate so that we will never be harmed in that way ever again. Statistics tell us that most couples break up. They tell us that divorce rates are on the climb.
But.
In your heart, you feel a gentle stirring. You shove it down, thinking "No. I cannot love." And yet it continues to unfurl its delicate wings, and quietly waits to fly. You just have to give it permission to. I'm not saying jump at every chance, I'm not saying to not be careful and wary. But listen. Just listen, to the whisperings that come from inside your most precious and secret place. Your heart.

Hair-Do Thursday ♥ Bump It Up!
Hey fashion fairies! THE BUMP. Many love it, some despise it, and others are just downright mystified by it. But in all truth, the hair bump does not have to be A. trashy or B. a mysterious puzzle. I find both of these examples very classy, and not "overdone". When your bump is bigger than your head... it's probably too much sweety... That's what happens when you breathe in too much hairspray! (Ahh... show choir.) But anyway! Just a BIT of hairspray can get the right effect. The bump should look natural, not like your have something growing out of your head. So...
First - decide how much hair you want to be "bumped". I usually use the hair just behind my bangs, and only as wide as the corner of my eyes. Lift it straight up in the air for now. Don't worry about looking like a unicorn.
Second - hairspray. DON'T go crazy! Just a quick spray near the base of the hair. And you're good.
Third - Back comb - Use a comb to brush the hair the opposite direction. Quick, short strokes near the base of the hair should do it.
Fourth - Pull it back and secure it. Whether you use clips, bobby pins, or something else altogether, make it stay. This is where you can make it really big or pretty small. Simply move where you are going to secure the hair farther forward to make a larger bump, or farther back for a more subdued bump.
That's all folks!

Wisdom Wednesday ♥ Happy Thoughts!
Hey there cheerful cherubs! What is happiness? Dictionary.com says it is"the quality or state of being delighted, pleased, or glad." Happiness may very well be just that. However, it is also something we must define ourselves. We must decide how our happiness takes shape in our lives, and it begins within our heads. In our thoughts. More specifically, the quality of our thoughts. I'm not saying you should be perfectly overjoyed all the time. Not at all. I know I'm not! Sometimes, it feels good to be mad. And gosh dangit I'm not gonna be happy. But a true joy can never actually go away. The kind of joy that is found deep within your soul. If your thoughts are joyful and pleasing, so will be your mood or demeanor.
How can you cheer somebody up this week?

Trend Tuesday ♥ Denim. All Over.
Hey there on-trend chicas! Denim is a staple for any closet. A jacket, some jeans. Maybe a vest. But this beautiful year of 2013 has brought a new season for the denim legacy! Denim all over! Yeah, of course you can wear those jeans with a chambray shirt! Or those denim shorts with that cute jean jacket! One rule of thumb though, is to keep the shades of denim different. The picture above may even be a little close for my taste, but is still a good example. But even though your top and bottoms may be denim, that doesn't mean you can't wear other colors. Neon heels or flats could be very flattering with what you choose to wear. Something that may stand out a bit too much in another outfit, simply takes the leading role when toned down slightly by the mix of neutral denims. Simple brown leather accessories would also be attractive. Whatever your personality prefers, go get it!
XOXO
