Hair-Do Thursday - Volume

volumeVolume
Hey ladies!  One thing I adore in any hair would have to be volume.  Volume can be really hard to achieve, especially if you have really thick hair like moi.
One thing that can really amp up the volume would be a side part. A center part is extremely difficult to get sexy volume.
Volumizing mousse would be a definite DO.  Mousse helps give the hair structure, and helps it to not just "lie down and play dead".
If you blow-dry your hair, drying it upside-down can boost the volume.  If you air-dry your hair (like me), you can pull the pieces you want so the roots face upward, and pin them there to dry.
One product I like to use on second day hair is bigsexyhair's Powder Play.  Apply just a tad of this powder to your roots and back comb the inch closest to the roots.  You can then smooth down the edges with a comb if they don't blend in with the rest of the hair.
Volume is gorgeous.  And there's no way it COULDN'T look gorgeous on YOU.
XOXO

Makeup Monday - From Day to Night (My Makeup)

Hey babes! ♥  Makeup trends fluctuate like a snow-melt river.  So, I try to stick within my favorite looks.  For day, I like to not wear to much makeup, especially in the summer!  Clogged pores and zits are seriously no fun.  So I wear Covergirl translucent powder and blush, and NYC bronzer to define my cheeks, Revlon brow fantasy eyebrow pencil, Maybelline shimmery eyeshadow in Cinnamon Spice, ULTA automatic eye liner in black/brown, a bit of Maybelline Rocket Volum' Express mascara, and a Wet n Wild MegaSlicks lipgloss in Rose Gold.
But when going out, or something fancy like a wedding, you have to be a bit more bold.  In this picture, I went for a bit of a 50's feel.  First, I applied Covergirl Clean Sensitive Skin foundation to my whole face.  Next comes the Covergirl powder, blush and NYC bronzer, except the bronzer under the cheekbones is thicker, to make them more defined.  Darker and more clearly shaped eyebrows (courtesy Revlon brow fantasy) create that classic vibe.  I also used a Maybelline sparkly eye shadow in Champagne Spice on the inner corner of my eyes, Cinnamon Spice near the whole outer half, and Revlon diamond lust in Night Sky right in the crease.  The eyeliner I used to make a cat-eye was Revlon ColorStay in black, which turned out super pretty!  The mascara I used was Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express.  An ULTA brand red lip stain plus some gloss tops everything off, pulling together my much more glam look! ♥
Hope you enjoyed this journey through the very mystical land of my makeup!
XOXO
Lexi

(p.s. Always wear the LEAST amount of makeup needed.  There is no excuse for overusing and abusing makeup EXCEPT show choir.  That's all!)
